Kensington Gardens Chapter

On Sunday, 3 Knoxville members made the road trip to Nashville. Gill, Diane and Joan  met with the delightful Kensington Gardens Chapter for an in person meeting at Simone’s home.

Members shared their home countries, backgrounds and shared favorite dishes from home. It certainly made us all hungry!

We discussed fundraising, the upcoming SDOM in Knoxville and the work of the National Board. It was wonderful to get to know these lovely ladies and chat over tea and treats. The KG  Chapter is the newest in the State of Tennessee but they have really bonded as a group and have had successful fundraisers and made donations in kind to local charities in the Nashville area.

Well done all, we are proud of you.

On Saturday 2nd March Kensington Gardens Chapter received their Charter from a group of ladies from the DBE in Tennessee State Board.

It was my greatest honor to travel to Nashville with Sandra Anderson and Judy Berry (State Board members of the DBE in TN) to present our new Chapter with their official charter.
We attended their monthly meeting, enjoyed afternoon tea and chatted about all things Commonwealth and our unique heritage.
Because the Chapter is still in its infancy there were a lot of question about the DBE on general and we were happy to pass on our years of experience working for the cause and how we have made it work for the two chapters in Knoxville.
Welcome Kensington Gardens Chapter.
Joan McCulloch 3rd VP.

Kensington Gardens are up and running successfully andhave Forty Seven Members at the last count. Well Done!

Many Chapter Teas have taken part since the inauguration and they have been carried out in traditional DBE tea format with a beautiful spread of home made cakes and pastries washed down with cups of delicious British Tea.

The Chapter has also taken part in some fun events, the latest one of which was Fun night listening to our own Naomi Henry and her band, Crackerjack, at Courtney’s restaurant in Mt. Juliet. The whole joint was rockin’, and Kirsty Crook’s “littles” kept us further entertained with the boot-scootin’ boogie!

Thanks to the DBE in TN Kensington Gardens Chapter for the information and the photographs.
