Christmas Tea

2019 Christmas Tea.

St Thomas Church in Lenoir City once again welcomed the DBE for their Annual Christmas tea and once again it was a resounding success.

This year we had record attendance with 250 tickets sold. As usual the ladies all turned up in their finery and beautiful head attire.

Our DBE ladies made a beautiful job of the Hall and the Table Decorations, as they always do.

Beautiful Tables Layout

The doors opened earlier this year and the vendors were set up in the vestibule which gave our guests time to browse their wares before coming into the tea. It was wonderful  to see so many guests laughing, chatting and enjoying the vendor stalls.

Foyer Festivity

We had eight vendors displaying everything from

African Art, Angelic Beading, Fashion Artwear, Images that Inspire, My Color Gifts, Neal’s Yard Remedies, Ridiculously Adorable Clothes for Kids and Sofie Soaps.

Thank you to all our vendors for supporting us each year.

Our Wonderful Vendors

At 1.00 pm we opened the doors to a huge throng of guests and commenced our Tea.

Diane Jones opened the Tea with a welcoming speech and informed our guests that this was our 18th consecutive year of hosting the tea and that over that time frame we have grown from 80 to 250 Guests with many returning guests. Thank you to all our regular ladies and to our new guests and we hope to see you again in 2020.

Diane welcoming everyone.

This year our raffle was to raise funds for a local charity.

Our Ladies, numbering 32 this year, went among our guests delivering piping hot pots of tea to accompany the Scones, Pastries, Sandwiches and Cakes. This year we used the Church hall speaker system to play festive music as the tea took place.

Diane then announced that we would draw the Raffle.  There were three beautiful Baskets donated by the DBE Chapters in East Tennessee, Regal Cinemas and  by Tennessee Valley Winery. Our thanks go to our contributors.

Our next entertainment  was the Farragut High School Madrigal singers who were dressed in period costumes and sang for our guests, a selection of old Christmas Carols.

The last Carol entailed the Choir coming down and mixing in with our guests. Beautifully sang and thank you.

Now came the time for the ever popular Fashion Show, which once again was provided by Chico’s of Turkey Creek. Again the Ladies of the DBE acted as the models showing some beautiful Fall and Winter fashions to our Guests. Once that was completed Denise Chico’s Manager  went among our Guests to pick the Fancy Hat Winner.

That brought to a close our 2019 DBE Christmas Tea. But wait,,,, we concluded on the tradition of all the DBE Ladies wishing our Guests a Merry Christmas in song.

We hope you enjoyed this brief resume of our tea and hope to see you in 2020. But do not forget, get your tickets in early or you may be disappointed.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from us all in the Daughters of the British Empire in Tennessee.
